(a)    1/8
(b)   1/12
(c)    1/16
(d)   1/21
(e)   None of these

12.’ A' can do a piece of work in 72 days and 'B' can do the same work in 45 days. They work together for 8 days and then 'A' left the job. In how many days 'B' will finish the remaining work ?
(a)    24 days
(b)   28 days
(c)    30 days
(d)  32 days

1. (b) 37
 Quantity of milk = [(64-16)/64]^3 *64
Quantity of milk = (3/4)^3 *64 = 27

Therefore, Water = 64-27 = 37 litres.

2. (b) Rs. 9000
Let he invested X in SBI
Therefore, (X*10*1)/100 + (12000-X)*20*1/100 = 1500
== > 10X-20X+240000 = 150000
== > -10X = -90000 or X = 9000

3. (b)   4 kmph
Let the speed of stream = ‘v’ and distance is ‘x’
Acc to question :-
2x/(12+v) = x/(12-v)
24-2v = v+12
12 = 3v or v= 4kmph

4. (b) 8 toffees.
20% loss = 1/5 = > 5:4
20% profit = 1/5 = >5:6
He wants profit, so he must sell less than 12toffees
== > 12*4/6 = 8 toffees

Alternate :-
SP = Rs 1 for 12 toffees
SP = 1/12 for 1 toffee.
CP = (100/80)*1/12 = 5/48 for 1 toffee.
Profit = 20%
SP Should be (120/100)*(5/48)= 1/8 for 1 toffee
Now, in 1/8 we get 1 toffee
In Rs.1 we will get = 8 toffee.
There are many ways to solve this problem

5. (b) 852
Pattern is x2-20, x2-20, x2-20,…….

6. (c) 302400
Pattern is  x(2^2-1), x(3^2-1), x(4^2-1), x(5^2-1), x(6^2-1)……….

7. (c) Rs. 800
Let Original Price be X, So, Original SP = 1.15X.
Now, If Case :-
CP = X-200 , SP = 1.15X-200
Profit = 20%
Now, [1.15X-200-(X-200)]*100/(X-200) = 20
0.15X*100 = 20(X-200)
-5X = -4000 or X= 800

8.  (e) 14% (None of these)
4200x3xR/100 + 6500x7xR/100 = 8134
126R + 455R = 8134
581R = 8134 or R = 14%
Hence, None of these

9.  (a) Rs. 81000
A for 3 years = 107811
A for 2 years = 98010
Difference in A for 3 yrs and 2 years will give Interest on A for 2 year
= 107811-98010 = 9801.
Hence, 9801 is SI for 1 year on Rs. 98010
From  this we can easily deduce R, which will also be R on CI.
R = 100x9801/98010x1 = 10 %
Thus, A= 98010 for 2 years on CI, R=10%
A= P(1+R/100)^2 = 98010
98010 = P(1+10/100)^2 = P(121/100)
P = 98010x100/121 = 81000

10. (b) 720
B123456G
Now, 6 letters are left for 6 different places.
Therefore, Required no. of ways = 6P6 = 6! = 720

11. (c) 1/16
n(s) = 16C3 = 560
n(E) = Number of ways of selecting 3 balls out of 7= 3C7 = 35
P(E) = 35/560 = 1/16

12. (d) 32 days.
(A+B)’s 1 day work = 1/72+ 1/45 = 13/360
(A+B)’s 8 days work = 13*8/360 = 13/45.
Remaining work = 1-13/45 = 32/45.
B finish 1 work in 45 days
B will finish 32/45 work in 45*32/45 = 32 days.

Also Can be done using following way :-
Let the total work be 360 (LCM of 72 and 45)
A’s efficiency = 360/72 = 5
B’s Efficiency = 360/45 = 8
A+B’s efficiency = 13
Work done by (A+B) in 8 days = 13x8 = 104
Remaining work = 360-104 = 256.
B will do it in = 256/8 = 32 days.
