(1) 12292

(2) 12294

(3) 12296

(4) 12298

(5) 12300**Solution1: c. 90 seconds The train that is running behind can cover 18 km less than the other train in 30 minutes. = Faster train can cover 18 km more than slower train in 30 minutes; or we can say that faster train can cover 36 km more than slower train in 1 hour. Trains are moving in same direction. Relative speed of faster train with respect to slower train = Speed of faster train — Speed of slower train = 36 km/hr = 36 x (5/18) m/sec = 10 m/sec When faster train crosses slower train, total distance travelled will be sum of lengths of trains. We know, Time taken = Distance / Speed Time taken by faster train to completely cross the slower train = (450 + 450)/10 = 90 seconds Solution2: c. Rs. 21 A's 1 day work = 1/3 B's 1 day work = 1/5 A and B 1 day's work = 1/3 + 1/5 = 8/15 Remaining work done by C = 1 — 8/15 = 7/15 So, A's share : B's share : C's Share = 1/3 : 1/5 : 7/15 = 5 : 3 : 7 C's wage = 45 x [7/(5 + 3 + 7)] = Rs. 21 Solution3: d. 163.2 cm Half of students, i.e., 60/2 = 30 have a height of 160 cm. One third of students, i.e., 60/3 = 20 have a height of 162 cm. Remaining students = 60 — 30 — 20 = 10 Let height of remaining students be T cm. Average height = 161.2 cm 161.2 = ((30 >4 160) + (20 x 162) + 10T)/60 9672 = 4800 + 3240 + 10T >T= 163.2 Height of remaining students is 163.2 cm. Solution4: b. Rs. 1000 Marked price of shirt = Rs. 2000 Discount on shirt = 40% We know, Selling Price = Marked Price x (1 — ((Discount Percentage)/100)) > Marked price of Wallet = Selling price of shirt = 2000 x (1 — 40/100) = 2000 x 0.6 = 1200 The wallet is sold at a profit of 20%. We are not given that there is any discount on wallet. So, we assume that discount is 0, and hence selling price and marked price will be same. Selling price of Wallet = Rs. 1200 We know, Selling Price = Cost Price x (1 + (Profit Percentage)/100) Cost price of wallet = Rs. 1200/(1 + (20/100)) = Rs. 1200/1.2 = Rs. 1000 Solution5: d. 4 Let the present age of Mark be N years. Age of James is twice of what the age of Mark was 3 years back. Present age of James = 2(N — 3) years = (2N — 6) years Years by which James is elder to Mark = (2N — 6 — N) years = (N — 6) years After 2 years, the ratio of ages of Mark and James will be 3:4. (N + 2)/(2N — 6 + 2) = 3/4 4N + 8 = 6N — 12 N = 20/2 = 10 Years by which James is elder to Mark = (N — 6) years = 4 yearsSolutions6. 2; +11^3, + 12^3, + 13^3, + 14^3...Solutions7. 5; ×1 + 51, ×2 + 102, ×3 + 153 ...Solutions8. 2; ×1.5, ×3, ×4.5, ×6 ...Solutions9. 1; + 8 ×1, + 16 × 2, + 24 × 3 ...Solutions10. 3; + 2^5, + 3^5, + 4^5 ... **
